Col. Doug Wheelock at 2011 Dayton Hamvention
The 2011 Dayton Hamvention Facebook page has a link to a thirteen minute talk by Col. Doug Wheelock (KF5BOC) where he made some comments about amateur radio aboard the International Space Station:

The comments about his birthday serenade for Fabiano Moser (CT7ABD / PY5RX) are notable, and you can listen to that contact on this site:
YouTube video of NA1SS QSO with WP3GW on 5/8/2011 at 1609 UTC
"This pass Saturday Mike Fincke - KE5AIT was active on the International Space Station during the day.
At 1609 UTC he was active via NA1SS over the Caribbean, and had a QSO with Angel, WP3GW, while he was calling CQ"

downlink on 145.800 during school contacts
Hello hams.
It struck me and other hams , here in The Neterlands, that signalquality decreased dramatically, since the Ham Station on board ISS was changed from Kenwood TM-D700 to an Ericsson device.
All the best, 73's from Hubert, PD0RLX...................

What is different about the new ham radio station on the ISS?
What is different about the new ham radio station in the Columbus module as compared with the old ham radio station in the Russian service module?
Did the ham radio contact on Friday 5/13/2011 with the English Estates Elementary School in Fern Park, FLA actually take place? I heard nothing on 145.800 Mhz. The spaceref.com On-Orbit report for 5/13/2011 says it was successful.
My last good reception was Paolo's school contact on April 14, 2011 and the recording is posted elsewhere on this site. Reception was quite clear using my police scanner with a rubber duckie antenna.
