FGB ham radio relocated to the Columbus module?
I'm not sure if this is related to voice or not but I saw this Tweet today:
RF2Space: The former FGB ham radio system has been relocated into the Columbus module on the ISS.
Anyone have any idea what an "FGB ham radio system" is and what this means for people who want to contact the ISS crew?
Packet on 145.8270 from Navy-Oscar 44
During the ISS pass of today 27 april 2011 at 18.10 UTC over Europe I received Packet signals, this time not at 145.8250 from ISS but at 145.8270 from Navy-Oscar 44.
Welcome Columbus
Howdy,

Callsign
I hope i have placed my question, at the right place.
I have two small questions, is NA1SS, the callsign for the spacestion, or are there others callsign for the station ?, I ask because i have seen some others callsign, on other sites.
What kind of antenna are the best to use to try to call the space station, i have this http://www.dmtonline.dk/shop/shop/product/show_product.asp?Product_ID=34... antenna right now, and its placed under the roof at the complex where i live.

BRIGHT OBJECT, NOT A UFO!!!!!
Just saw the ISS during orbit 71160 at around 0245z. I wasn't even looking to see the station, just outside enjoying the evening breeze and spotted it moving very fast and very bright.
It was so bright, it was easy to pick up.
Was able to call for the wife to come out and view it with me.
I've worked the station several times but nothing for sometime now.
Hopefully, they will start working the radio again.
Just as about exiciting, viewing it, as working it on the radio. ALLMOST!

Anybody from Beijing China?
Hello,
I write from a small hotel in Beijing China and right out of the window I see a very nice az/el circular polairazed yagi array for v/uhf. The vision woke up my curiosity for local amateur radio activities.
Is anybody reading this site from the area? I really would like to meet. Please let me know so we can meet for coffee, tea or whatever. My address is alain@alain.it

Question about APRS via ISS
Hello,
I have been doing APRS for years but new at the whole ISS APRS. What exactly do I need to do for this too work? I have D700A and know I go to the current ISS APRS freq 145.825. What satellite program do you suggest for monitoring? Using Orbitron at the moment. Is the satellite I should be viewing be the actual ISS or is it something different?
Is there a place on here that will explain exactly what to do to make the ISS contact? and is the ISS APRS station unattended or is it only operation when someone is up there?

ARRISat1
April 12 is the 50th anniversary of Yuri Gagarin's space flight, the 30th
Anniversary of the first Space Shuttle flight and sees an activation of
ARISSat-1 on 145.950MHz FM
ARISSat-1 was to be 'SuitSat2' - this is due to be 'launched' on an EVA, I think in July.
There is voice, SSTV and telemetry downlinks from this, it will be using the ISS antennas for the experiment during this teime, before it is launched.
