Hi, There is so much info regarding vhf 2 meter frequencies linking the ISS. i.e
downlink- uplink etc. I do not have the equipment to recieve "packet"

Can someone please tell me what is the basic TX and RX frequency for South Africa.
I have used the frequencies given on this website at the correct tracking times as to when the ISS will be over head........ and I hear NOTHING !!!!

I have a pretty good recording oof the pass and many call signs on it .
I have a old laptop giving me trouble on converting to mp3 so uploading to site wont work rite now. If you want to sample for call sign drop me an email and I will send it to you

I am going to take a presentation about the ISS and ARISS to a school's class of a college (16-18 yrs old boys). I am wondering if there is a source for suitable power point presentations and / or downlodable videos I can use to capture the attention of those disctracted teenagers.

does the ISS transmit SSTV over the usa? specifically over the east coast? and is it done on the voice downlink freq?

i have mail waiting for me aboard the iss, but it takes so long to download the list of all mail to find mine i can get the message number of my message. i know on regular packet message boards you can send a "LM" request that will "list mine" or "RM" for "read mine", i tried this on the iss but it didnt work, it there a command to only list my messages?

I have had the good luck of making my first ISS contacts over the past two weeks -- four contacts! It was very exciting!

Just for fun I looked up the callsign NA1ISS in the FCC database at http://fjallfoss.fcc.gov/General_Menu_Reports/callsign.cfm, and the response is [No Match for this Callsign in the Database! "NA1ISS" not found in FCC Databases].

Interestingly, it seems that the FCC rules (47 CFR 97.119(a)) specifically exclude a space station from the requirement to identify itself.

So I was just wondering... is the callsign "NA1ISS" just something that somebody made up?

Had the chance to take some of my Cub Scouts camping for a quick overnight for new scouts and their parents... Got woken up at 4:30 am by 5 of my DEN member so they could see the ISS pass over head.... Awesome for young boys to be so Gung-Ho about space, never know - I may just have the next space walkers....
