Help with Antenna for RX ISS
It sounds as if you have a vertical antenna with some decent db gain. That will be fine for a shallow angle pass but if the pass is very high (greater than 45 degrees) then you are listening in the null zone of your antenna.
Possible solutions.
Get a tracking beam antenna.
Get an eggbeater style antenna.
Try a 1/4 with a ground plane. This is the cheapest but it will still have a null area, just not as much as a gain vertical.Good Luck,

Mebie are the digi off ??? the are PMS ON
I tried on 2 passes today with no luck on the digi (rs0iss-4) on 145.800. The Beacon seems to be off as well. I guess the D700 needs a reboot.
The BBS (rs0iss-11) appears to be functional.

Help with Antenna for RX ISS
hello,
indeed the so much low sign that the tnc is not layers of decoding the plot, I use the sound card emulating the tnc with the progrma AGW and the UISS to connect me.
For what I read the sign of the ISS it changes phase 4 times in a pass and I believe that that it is for this reason the lost of sign that I have, when not being able to receive the reception confirmation the program it disconnects me without being able to give the message to the PMS.I believe that I have to look for an antenna for satellites LEO of easy construction.
thank you for any help.

Help with Antenna for RX ISS
Are you sure you completely loose the signal? Are you monitoring the unproto window?
Being disconnected doesnt always mean loosing the signal. -

Packet ACTIVE
Hallo ,, when any one connect the pms for the list or sie the list in the down stream.
Please sent it to this forum.
So whe hope to sie the last new one list.
Befor the next passing so the have shorter time necessary for a connecten with the BBS
then it is not always necessary read the list, then more time is
places and reading bulletins. My idee use a good beam to connect the ISS when you use the BBS/PMS
1 a 2 minutes are you can send a lot of mails.
Its are verry busy in Europa on the uplink.
When you have only a 1a 2 db arrond antenne are you signal to weak on the ISS to use the PMS/BBS the are too much packet collision and recurrences, after a number of recurrence attempts the timer of the packet contoler
will send disconnect and the connection is broken. you Sie a DM to you from the ax25 contoler.for use of the normal aprs digi is a antenna round radiating is a good
solution this largely sufficient for good result.73 de pe2jmr

TS2000
I already have serveral QSO with the ISS gone to packet-radio over my build-in TNC of the Kenwood TS-2000 amateur radio transceiver..
There are different posibilities of the TNC activate.. For example in the Hostmode via Microsoft HyperTerm or in the KISS-mode about the Flexnet-Driverinterface and a terminalprogram (e.g. Paxon)..Preparations for the TS-2000:
-----
Connect the serial interface of your computer with "bothside" sockets over a nine-pole cable with the COM-connector of the TS-2000.. You still must carry out a couple of attitudes in the menu of the TS-2000 now.. Call menu number 46 and choose the sub band as the data band.. This is default.. "TNC" should be seen in the right area of the display.. Call menu number 47 and choose 1200bps as the transfer rate between the transceiver and the ISS-PMS..
Call menu number 48 and choose DCD-sense as TNC-Band.. The DCD is a method with which one impedes the internal TNC to send data if straight data traffic takes place on the QRG..
Check you for the transmission rate between PC and TNC (TS-2000) as the last under menu number 56.. It leaves at 9600 bd.
Put the "Packet Operation" "ON" under menu numer 55.. The letters "PKT" appear in the display above on the right..Configuration of HyperTerm:
--
Feels the simplest is HyperTerm.. At first the windows program Hyper terminal is started. You find the program under: Windows-Start > all programs > accessories > comunication.. Chooses a "new connection" and then at "connect abort ..." the through Port about COM1 or COM2 to COM4, that is the serial interface of your computer..
At the connection attitudes you dail 9600 and for the handshake-control "Hardware"..
The 9600bps is the transmission rate between the computer and the TS-2000 which you have adjusted under the menu number 56 at this TS-2000..
Under attitudes > ASCII configuration you put only the arrow "interrupting lines in the terminal window when too long".. No-one or else!! Turn the sub-receiver off once and then switch on again..
If erverything works properly, you receive on the screen a status report, this one start with a "TASCO radio modem..."..
You are in command-mode (CMD and you can send orders to the TNC.. Enter the following orders after each other..
You put the Callsign as the first with MYCALL.. The baudrate you can change with hbaud.. For connect to ISS you need 12OO!!
To listen on the QRG MON, MCON and MCOM must be set ON..
Further TNC orders are in the operating instructions to TS-2000 on the pages 11o to 112.. To connect to the ISS-PMS, you put the following order to TNC:
C RS0ISS-11..The most of this text are translated from german into english from the web page http://www.qsl.net/dj4uf/funktechnik/TS2000-Packet/TS2000_Packet.htm
I hope i could help you.. ICQ-No.: 150193182
At questions i am still available under O7RAY@darc.de" target="_new">DO7RAY@darc.de up to 1-2-2004.. 73 es hpe cuagn on iss-pms de DO7RAY..
Good luck and bye bye....[ This message was edited by: DO7RAY on 27-12-2003 19:48 ][ This message was edited by: DO7RAY on 27-12-2003 19:58 ]

ARISS Commemoration
Just to clarify my last message, the ARISS-EU.ORG website says
"Those who contact the ISS by voice or packet during this weekend and through December 2003 will be eligible for a special anniversary event certificate."
does this apply to
* contact withthe bbs
and/or
* digi through the digipeater
as well as voice contact? (rare)

TS2000
I use the internal modem on a Kenwood TMD700E, I think it is the same modem (but only 5kHz channelling). & I drive it with Packcom and it works fine.

TS2000
I think that any 1200 bps AFSK modem will do the job.
If your TS2000 will do that you wont have much troubles. -
I could not be heard by ISS
Kevin,
ISS radio freqs are currently misconfigured. They are on 145.800 simplex.
RS0ISS-11 is the BBS call, RS0ISS-4 is the digipeater.73´s

Lately the ISS has been using 145.800 simplex for the APRS and Packet operations. Digi callsign is rs0iss-4. I suspect that they will eventually go back to the previous split of 145.800 down and 145.99 up.
I presume that voice operations are still via the normal split of 145.800 down and 144.49 up in ITU region 2 (including US) but have not tried this.
Good Luck,
Kenneth - N5VHO -

Packet on today
Yes, my QSO today was using 145.800 simplex. I tried to connect on the first pass with the standard split but it did not work. I turned off the split for the next pass and had no problem. Also used RS0ISS-4 as the digi.

Packet on today
Great to hear that ISS is active. I suspect the reason that the ISS station heard list is not displaying activity is due to the callsign change. It lists stations heard via RS0ISS but not RS0ISS-4.
I look forward to working it on the next pass in 20 minutes.

Packet on today
N1OFZ thanks for noting our activity via ISS but for some reason it´s not being listed on ISS heard list, had IGATE up on last pass and nothing yet copied 5 stations, so left gate up for PCSAT an gated GM4VYU and G4FIP to pcsat heard list OK. ?? go figure. But none the less it is great to hear and work ISS again. 73 all Mark KB1GVR.
