OK. Kind of jumps right out at me when it´s pointed out. Yesterday was a long day short on coffee I´m afraid.

    Misconfigured Igate.
We´ve seen this before in the NE USA and a few other locations. Note the location of the asterisk in the string.

    What is scheduled?
I´m sure these are set up weeks in advance. On top of that, I bet fixing the oxygen generator and all the science experiments rank above scheduling radio contacts.
Yep, the Russians are pro amateur radio but I have not heard Sasha making many contacts either. Guess the are both busy.

You all are making my point for me. It has taken years and at least one space walk! to get amateur radio where it is today. This is not just a hap hazard venture. So I don´t by the excuse they "just forgot" or "their just busy" If you watch these guys move about the station they have a plastic card of check sheets attached at all time. They have procedures for procedures. Everything they do is scripted to the minute. You are all right they don´t have the time for amateur radio. If there were 300 fokes up there they would not have time for amateur radio! You may also notice that all the amateur equipment is in or on the zarya module thats Russian territory! I think the real question here is where does NASA and AMSAT stand in matters of space? Russia and the ESA have proven their commitiment here. Keep us in the loop! Use the equipment right or just configure it for our use and leave it alone! WA9WEB

This a debate fokes so don´t start calling me names or send me profanity laced e-mail.[ This message was edited by: wa9web on 19-03-2004 19:30 ]

I agree with N5VHO about the fact that packet inactivity is not uncommon.
There could be so many reasons why the radio has been turned off.

Anyway this site is much more frequently updated than any other amateur radio source around the net... including amsat´s mailing lists...

I´ve been chasing ISS for 2 years and it is not uncommon for the packet system to be off for several days after a school contact. The last one was on Wednesday. The crews time is very busy, especially with just 2 of them up there. Weekends are often their next chance to mess with the amateur radio.

They usually announce school contacts and other info on the SAREX BB

    Hi ALL
I AGREE WITH MR. WAYNE BROWN WA9WEB
(WE NEED TO KEEPED IN LOOP)
WITH ALL THE AVALIBLE FACILITIES TO THE ISS IT S SO SIMPLE TO BE IN LOOP !!!!

ARE RADIOS OVER THEIR A PART OF THE PROJECT? OR BROUGHT UP BY A BRIVATE HANDBAG?
    GOOD LUCK

    Hello WA9WEB,

If you saw my NOT ACTIVE msg at 18-3 you
could read my msg! (in the PMS).
It happend a few times before that they
forgot to switch packet on after a voice
    scool contact!
I asume Mike, and Alexander are not
real radio amateurs (I gues they did
received a free license cause they work for
    the NASA/ESA??!?!) I only know 1 real
active person in space that was Valery, I´m
sure he has the radio virus in his blood hi!

So I gues Mike and Alexander are verry
busy with the space projects, do not worry
there are some real amateurs who
work for NASA/ESA ground control, I
asume they will tell Mike to switch packet
    on.
And maybe the TMD-700 (in space) is
on the school contact freq. so if some-one
know that freq. trie to call them!

    Umm, grouch? Yah.
    <BR>
<BR>This is a hobby, they have a Million more important things to do up there. My guess, is they didn´t turn on the Packet/APRS Stuff once they did their voice contact a couple days ago. I´m sure it will come back to life in the coming days.
    <BR>
<BR>so Chill, spend some time with the wife. I´m eager for it to come back too, but I won´t get heart failure worrying about it.

    window!
    It is working 100% here!
I gues you have problems with your
windows system (or other conflicts with
    other software).

  • ISS VHF-1 TX power?   14 years 41 weeks ago

    Hi all,

I received word from Chris van den Berg, who was in Star City, Russia, last week. Chris was so kind to ask my question about the power of VHF-1 (143.625 NFM) to the chief communications engineer in Star City. He told Chris that the VHF-1 transmitter power aboard ISS is about 6 Watt.

  • K6DUE, ISS Commemorative Event Certificate   14 years 41 weeks ago

    All,

To save postage costs, the process that we are using for the special event certificates is that the various regions (Europe, Canada, USA, Russia and Japan) are collecting the QSLs and generating a compiled list of names and callsigns. These lists are then used to print the certificates and return the certificates to the regions by bulk mail. They will then distribute them to all of you.

Believe it or not, some QSLs are still coming in! We have the compiled lists and the lists are being used to print the certificates. As more information becomes available on this, we will post the status. It shouldn´t be too long now. Thanks for your patience.

You seem to be using the forum fine. Just post the info here.

I think you´ll find the readership to be quite high.

We use to have a person post all the messages in the mail box here too. Save a lot of time on downloads for users worldwide.

How about reporting the short version in the ACTIVE/INACTIVE section and post the longer messages with all the content in the FORUM section where they will be visable to all including visitors to the site?

I´ll help if I can, count me in. This might sound silly, but how does one generate false data? Why is another question.
