VA2VA....Thanks for posting the list. It seems I too am experiancing a different signal from ISS. Seems to come and then go rather quickly with a silent period of a few minutes at times. I wonder if my location is in a *shadow* or a null of some sort. In the mean time I guess it s a *work-in-progress* Still fun none the less. Best 73

PMS is not locked for third world. You are translating the message in the wrong way.
The messages says that PSM is OPEN for third world countries.

  • ISS doppler effect!!!!   14 years 50 weeks ago

    Hello All,

    The doppler correction works fine!
On the end of the pass (3:49UTC) I -
    connected 4X4LF (in Israel).
    I connected 4X4LF also earlier at 2:14UTC.
    Im located in Holland JO33AD!

    http://www.qsl.net/pd0rkc/israel.html

My RX freq was on the end of that pass
145.795, and my TX freq. was reverse at
    145.995.
    We´re talking about 5Khz doppler
difference! Renember at the end (and the
beginning) of the pass the doppler effect
change the freq. much, if you correct your
trx with the doppler you´re packet runs
better at a long distance!!!!!!!! It is also a
big delay to others when you are in the bbs
and the communication to you and the ISS
is not running good cause you did not
    correct your doppler! Good luck!

  • ISS TX power problems?   14 years 51 weeks ago

I had a good pass over Venezuela 01:45 UTC 9/1/2004, the signal is much better tonight, S-9+ in some moments. They changed something, this is the first time I get that signal since december.

    Hello All,

Well intresting is why the signals are
    weak!
Maybe DO4OSS is right about the
    weather!?!?
It is also intresting to study the position of the ISS when it´s weak with his signal.
Please save the real time globe map when
the signals are verry weak in a whole pass, also tell the signal report at that pass, and sent it (all) to pd0rkc@amsat.org
    http://enterprise.ontwikkel.nl/images/iss_globe.jpg
You must refresh the map in your browser, en click with your right mouse on the globe
map, save it to your harddisk and e-mail
    it to me!!!!

I have today sent my contribution to the K6DUE commemoration event and I hope to receive my certificate when it is ready.

My qsl´d/recorded contribution was an APRS digi contact via ISS with DO4OSS.

It is superb/superbe/grossartig, to digi through the ISS!!!

    thanks, K6DUE!

    Hmmm,

I worked ISS with a Kenwood TH-D7 and standard rubber-antenna.

So don´t have such problems, except during bad weather the signals are weak.

  • ISS TX power problems?   14 years 51 weeks ago

I agree. Signals from ISS are weak even if ISS is in close range. I have not been able to send any APRS with success.

  • ISS TX power problems?   14 years 51 weeks ago

    Hello Eloy,

It´s now 05-02-2004 and the pass at 01:02UTC was verry strong 5/9 signal, iss
was a few minutes in range with low elevation!
I do not know what the position of the ISS antenne´s are, is the space station thumbling?
    ISS antenna´s are little.
    look at: http://www.qsl.net/pd0rkc/iss.html

  • ISS TX power problems?   14 years 51 weeks ago

I agree with you, on december 23 and 24 I received the ISS with S-9 signals, now I don´t get more than S-5 when I´m lucky.

  • ARISS Commemoration   15 years 5 min ago

I put the same question to F1MOJ, on behalf of ARISS EU, who confirms that the ARISS diploma is available for APRS contacts, as well as phone or packet contacts, on receipt of a written account of the contact, the QSL card of the person seeking the award and 4 IRCs. ARISS also needs a large envelope for the return posting.

    A great commemoration of K6DUE!

  • ARISS Commemoration   15 years 19 hours ago

    Andy,

This is copied off of the ARISS site:

    K6DUE ISS Commemorative Event Certificates

Astronaut Mike Foale was active during a North America and Europe pass on Saturday December 6. Numerous ham radio operators in these parts of the world made contact with Mike Foale or heard the ISS downlink. Those who heard or worked the ISS qualify for a special ISS Commemorative Certificate.

Instructions on receiving an ISS special event certificate follows:

    1) Please send an 9 inch by 12 inch (minimum) envelope for your certificate with adequate postage or IRCs included. Smaller envelopes will result in your certificate getting folded (not a pretty sight).

    2) Include your name, callsign and whether you worked ISS or heard ISS.

    3) Send your QSL/SWL information with the envelope to your ARISS QSL distributor in your area (Americas, Europe, Japan, or Russia). See the ARISS Web Page for more details: www.rac.ca/ariss

Please note that this process will take several weeks. The plan is to get a bulk listing of QSLs/SWLs so that the calls can be added to the certificate prior to printing. We will then bulk mail these certificates to the QSL distributors. The distributors will then mail the certificates to you.

It is not clear whether we will have another voice opportunity with Mike Foale next weekend. We will keep you informed as we get more details.

    73, Frank Bauer, KA3HDO

    Hope this answers your question.

  • Help with Antenna for RX ISS   15 years 1 day ago

    Sorry,
my Turnstile is a comercial product, sold here in Germany by one of the major HAM equipment seller.

The antenna is quite simply: (scroll down)
    http://www.wimo.de/verteiler.htm?s14b_d.htm

The upper radial are at aroudn 45°, the radials at the bottom are parallel to the floor.

That´S all I can say - maybe use google for a search.

    Happy new year,
    Steffen (DO4OSS)

  • Help with Antenna for RX ISS   15 years 1 day ago

    Hello to all,
Thank you for the information on the antenna, the one that I have has 6 Db in VHF, but the problem should be like they say the dead points of the antenna.

And listened of the antenna crossed dupolos for the reception of polar satellites, this it will be good for the ISS?. As for the eggbeater and the Turnstile, where they can be the planes to build one?

Thank you for the answer and happy new year

I have not heard the -4 digi or the beacon in about 3 days. I guess the unit must be misconfigured.

  • Help with Antenna for RX ISS   15 years 2 days ago

    I´m using three different antennas.

    - Diamond X-50
    - Diamond X-200
    - Turnstile

X-200 is very good at low elevation.
X-50 and Turnstile are great for higher elevation!
And I never had a problem connecting to ISS.
    Using just 5W!

    BTW., same to PCsat.
