November 14th
RS0ISS on and off once again
As you probably noted in the last few days the Packet Radio system has been turned on and off again.
Various operators from all over the world reported RS0ISS operating normally for a few hours.
Unfortunately the PMS is now back off the air.
It looks like we still have some problems up there...
November 11th
ARISS Announces Roy Neal, K6DUE, ISS Commemorative Event
[ARRL] NEWINGTON, CT, Nov 11, 2003--The Amateur Radio on the International Space Station (ARISS) international team has announced an on-the-air event to commemorate Roy Neal, K6DUE, who died August 16. ARISS has requested that the ISS Expedition 8 crew of commander Mike Foale, KB5UAC, and Alex "Sasha" Kaleri, U8MIR, communicate from space with earthbound radio amateurs during the November 29-30 weekend.

Voice Contact
Today (November 9. 03) at 1205z I had a short contact with Michael Foale on board the ISS. I also heard him say hes working on getting the packet station running, and he will be on Voice more often. Gerry, VE6GP

ET Shadow Experiment

NEW TWO-HAM CREW TAKES OVER ISS REINS
The ARRL Letter and The American Radio Relay League report that the new two-ham crew of Expedition 8 Commander and NASA ISS Science Officer Mike Foale, KB5UAC, and Russian Cosmonaut and ISS Flight Engineer Alexander "Sasha" Kaleri, U8MIR, officially took over the reins of the
International Space Station this week. A formal change-of-command ceremony

Significant Boost to Power
The ARRL Letter and The American Radio Relay League report that during a Symposium, Amateur Radio on the International Space Station
(ARISS) Chairman Frank Bauer, KA3HDO, outlined the delivery of the
so-called Phase 2 ham equipment to the ISS. A Progress rocket already has
delivered a Kenwood TM-D700E VHF/UHF transceiver to the ISS. The unit will
mean a significant boost to the power output of the ARISS initial station
gear--from 5 W to 25 W.

Packet Radio OFF-LINE
Miles Mann (MAREX-MG) reports on the SAREX newsletter that astronaut Mike Foale will fix the packet radio if he gets permission to integrate the repair in his work schedule.
ISS Packet Radio is now ACTIVE

Download frequency is 145.800 MHz FM. Amateur stations in southwestern Europe are invited to listen to Pedro, ED4ISS answering in Spanish the questions prepared by the children:
