MESSAGE FROM V. KORZUN ABOUT PMS PROBLEM
Valery, sending me a message this afternoon, confirmed about a problem with the PMS during last week. The Commander re-powered the TNC and all seems ok.
Several messages are stored since this morning on the PMS.
CONFIRMED: ISS PACKET OK OVER EUROPE
Just 5 minutes ago (Oct. 22, 2002 at 07:35 UTC) I worked ISS Packet System succesfully. Frequency is 145.825 MHz Simplex. Pass was only 5 degrees for my station but a good signal permitted me to send a message to Valery confirming that all is OK. This is a list of message received during this contact. Latest message was on October 15, 2002.
ISS PACKET ACTIVE AGAIN
We have received a message from Scott, WA6LIE saying: '...ISS is back on packet! Is using 145.825 simplex. No more West Coast passes for the day.

Cosmonaut dies at 70
Cosmonaut Nikolai Rukavishnikov, who encountered hair-raising problems on two of his three space missions for the Soviet Union, died Saturday of a heart attack, Russian media reported. He was 70.

MSG FROM V. KORZUN ABOUT HAMRADIO ACTIVITY
I have received a message from ISS Commander Valery Korzun about the Hamradio Station Status during last week. The Packet Radio silence is continuing to being unknown. In the Valery's message there isn't a reference to the packet system.

Space Shuttle Atlantis glided to a noontime landing at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida completing a 4.5 million mile journey to outfit the International Space Station with a new section of truss and supplies for the Expedition crew onboard.

Space Shuttle Atlantis STS-112 touched down at Kennedy Space Center, Florida, ending an International Space Station assembly mission. Landing occurred at 10:44 a.m. CDT (1544 GMT), ending the mission at the 11-day, 19-hour, 58-minute mark.
