New one! NA1SS works Malaysia

ISS Amateur Radio

Thanks to our fellow member Cor PD0RKC from the Netherlands, Bill was able to work few hours ago a new one: 9W2QC Sion from Malaysia!
Cor warned Sion in realtime about the incoming pass and the result was a beautiful voice QSO.
Congratulations!

Bill is very active

ISS Amateur Radio

I just heard Bill as the ISS came up over the northern horizon. He worked PA0JMV, IZ7EVR, RU6JW and 4L8A in Europe, and then I had a short QSO with him. After me he worked HZ1AM and 7Z1SJ. He seems to be enjoying Ham Radio!
The rig here is a Kenwood TS-790A - 50 W into a vertical collinear antenna.

ISS Amateur Radio

Hello All,

There are several software programs which can
tell you the ISS doppler frequencies, even
without an rig controlled (CAT) transceiver!!!!
For example Hamradio De Luxe (freeware).
Download Hamradio De Luxe (7,5mb).

ISS Voice repeater: Lower mic and try to be quick!

ISS Amateur Radio

Hello all,
during the first ISS voice repeater after its reactivation in occasion of the Russian Space Patrol event, I had the pleasure to contact TA3EL Ali.
It was a good occasion to verify how sensitive the repeater modulation is. In facts, I had to lower the modulation to less than the half of the level that I normally use for other satellite operations.
Also remember that many are willing to try so once you had the contact please leave space for the others.

During normal voice operations I see that many stations use to call after the Astronaut replied to someone else, interrupting their QSO.
This is of course very bad habit denoting poor ham spirit. Those "alligators" will now have to think twice before they choose to eat another QSO because they will have to do it in front of everyone else.

In UHF doppler correction is a must so get ready to learn more about it if you still havent...
I wish everyone good luck with the ISS repeater!
Alain
