Happy birthday CD for Sergey Krikalev!
Hello All,
The happy birthday Sergey event on 27 August was a big success.
Thanks to ISS Fan Club!!!
Kenneth (N5VHO) came with the idea to create a CD with audio recordings, shack pictures with the operators, and a small comment from the operators.
I (PD0RKC) will make the CD with a nice cover, but I need your help!
If you had a contact with Sergey on 27 August, please send the requested items above to:
isszarya@hotmail.com
I will send the CD to Kenneth at JSC NASA space center USA, and he will make every attempt to get it to Sergey

GREAT GREAT GREAT
Becoming Amateur Radio just to talk to Sergei
Between all the successful stories of people sending greetings to Sergei Krikalev the story of Maryam 9K2MD probably deserves special attention.
Maryam is a young girl from Kuwait City who got her Amateur Radio licence this year just to be able to talk to Sergei Krikalev.
I met her when I noticed that a good amount of the visitors coming to this website were being referred by her blog that talks about space.
She got immediately interested about the possibility of actually talking to the ISS and so she started studying to become an amateur radio operator.
I think the process was more complicated than what it would have been in the USA or here in Europe. For sure it took much more time, but at the end she did it.
Then she managed to find and buy a VHF radio and after many tries, with the help of her little sister who kept turning and elevating by hand a 5 elements yagi she finally succeeded.
Congratulations Maryam!
Sergei very active over South-America
Sergei was very active over South-America and I heard U5MIR talking with several stations from Argentina and Brazil.
I had a pass with 20 degrees of elevation and after a few calls Sergei replied with: "Claudio are you?" because probably he did not believe to listen my call from another part of the World :)
I think Sergei was very happy to hear so many stations sending congratulations and Feliz Cumple to him.
On the latest pass over Argentina at 20:41 UTC NO Packet and NO Voice heard.
Thanks again for the contacts.
Sergey said: thank you very much for gratulations!!!!

ISS amateur radio status (Aug 17)
The packet system on 145.80 is now working and John Phillips had a successful school contact this morning (1544 UTC) with the Higgins Institute
in Tempe, Arizona.
The crew is scheduled to perform a spacewalk tomorrow and the amateur radio equipment will be shutdown about 1200 UTC to support that activity. The equipment is expected to return to service once post EVA reconfiguration
actions are accomplished.
