Packet operations during school contact

Scott H. Lindsey-Stevens, N3ASA says:
Please note that prior to the Saint-Mard, France school contact the packet station will be switched off to avoid any possible interference to the QSO. The astronauts should switch the packet station back on after the contact. However, the switch over will most likely not be immediate.
So please be patient if packet service does not immediately resume.

Thank you & 73,

ET Shadow Update

Valentin has posted new information on the ET Shadow experiment. See www.tsniimash.ru and follow the links to "Ground Air"

Unfortunately, not very many Amateurs have signed up so far but maybe this new activity will attract participants.

Glenwood School Contact

The extended text has the full posting but I thought it might be good to note this part down near the end.

"Please be aware that the packet system will be inoperable during a school contact. However, it should be available soon afterward."

Information on ISS radio operations

As many of you have noticed. the ISS has been silent for the past few days. In actuality it has been operational but listening on another uplink frequency. It is currently configured for uplink on 145.825 and downlink remains 145.800.
In addition, due to the upcoming EVA, the crew's time has become very restrictive. This demanding schedule will cause lesser priority items to be postponed and at some point will mean the amateur radio equipment will be turned off for a time.
After the EVA, it is expected that ISS operations will return to normal frequency pairing and operatiions.
Enjoy the ISS!

ISS Digipeater HINT

I have received a few emails asking what digi path I used to get my packets digipeated. RS0ISS, RS0ISS-3 or RS0ISS-4 ??

The answer is NONE of the above.
Here is a trick or secret that works every time.
Use the digi path of ARISS. (U CQ Via ARISS) According to Bob Bruninga WB4APR,
this is a defaulted digi path, so it will work all the time as long as the digipeater is ON.

I hope this helps some that are not getting through.

ISS radio receiver goes deaf?

Now that ISS packet radio is back on the air I noticed that the station seems to go deaf during some passes for about 30-40 seconds.
After that time operations continue normally.
During MIR times something similar used to happen when the Crew was using the VH1 channel on 143.625 MHz.
Do we have an interference problem also on ISS? Did anyone else notice that?
Alain
