Mobile contat with the ISS!

ISS Amateur Radio

Hey folks, was on the way to cracker barrell resturant in Tuscaloosa Alabama today (31 July 2004) and heard digital, half way there Mike swapped over and heard him call cq cq NA1SS. Was able to work him for the first time, my friends in the vehicle were also able to work him (KV4T & KS4YT). We had a good 3 minute conversation working ISS Mobile w/ 5 Watts out on a comet antenna. Very good signal.

S-9 level strength Packet with skip!

My window for reception of ISS ham downlink was between 0359 UTC and 0409 UTC.Actual reception lasted 2minutes longer than expected!Nearest range was 484 miles j-trak.Range 2175 miles + when lost contact with solid S-9 signal strength packet!Earlier solar storm enhancement may account for the over horizon reception!

Hello All,

The countries which take part in the ISS project will invest less money for the space station.
In the future fewer crew members will go to the space station, also less scientific expiriments shall be carried out.
The nasa wants to invest more money into projects such as mars and the moon.
In the year 2010 America takes all space shuttles out off service, uptill 2010 the nasa will bring new modules to the space station.

ISS video.....from ground based camera

ISS News

The weather in the UK has not been very good of late.As a result , the recent visible passes made by the station have been clouded out. However I did manage to record a couple of fleeting glimpses a few days ago .

The videos can be found here :

Most of the main components of the complex can be seen.

John.
