DON PETTIT TALKS WITH ITALIAN SCHOOL IN FRIULI

Friday 7 March 2003 at 7:36 UTC, i.e. 8:36 local time, the Istituto Tecnico (technical highschool) Industriale Malignani IV3FLG of Cervignano-del-Friuli in the Region of Friuli-Venezia-Giulia, Italy, performed a radio contact with US astronaut Donald Pettit, KD5MDT, Science Officer on board the International Space Station.

The ten sixth, seventh and eighth grade students at Krueger Middle School of Applied Technologies in San Antonio asked 20 questions of Science Officer Don Pettit, KD5MDT, on board the International Space
Station.

The crew of the International Space Station's sixth expedition passed the benchmark of 100 days in space this week while focusing on routine maintenance of station systems and a survey of the station using the Canadarm2 robotic arm.

The Progress resupply vehicle is an automated, unpiloted version of the Soyuz spacecraft that is used to bring supplies and fuel to the International Space Station. The Progress also has the ability to raise the station's altitude and control the orientation of the station using the vehicle's thrusters.

Expedition Six's Stay in Space Reaches 100-Day Mark
Monday, Expedition Six Commander Ken Bowersox, Flight Engineer Nikolai Budarin and NASA ISS Science Officer Don Pettit spent their 100th day in space. They will reach their 100th day in command of the International Space Station on Thursday.
