Newcomer
Hi,
I have some knowledge of basic radio theory and would like to try listening to ISS.
I was thinking of buying a second-hand Icom PCR1000, but would be keen to hear any comments on what would be suitable without breaking the bank please.
Also, I have been reading about "egg-beater" type antennae for use with weather satellite reception, and wondered if this would be a good idea for ISS also.
Any advice would be gratefully received.
Many thanks......Mike (Cambridge - UK)

Kenwood D700
The purifier is now using the power outlet that the Kenwood radio normally uses. Is there any light at the end of this very long tunnel that this power issue with the purifier and the Kenwood D700 might be resolved in the near future? I am refurring to the Kenwood D700 being returned to service for general ISS contact by Ham Radio Operators. The purifier must take priority to the radio, and this I do understand.
Thank you

APRS Contact
Hi everybody,
I have just received some stations during the last pass over my QTH (see my report).
I passed on the air also with the TMD 700 and i received "MY POS" on the screen.
Is that my position came via ISS ? How to be sure i made the contact ?
This is the 1st time i see that.
Thanks for your answer.

Voice operation from the International Space Station
Do they ever become active on voice other than for school contacts?
I have tried most every pass for the most of this year 2012 and have had no success.
