Progress M-49 brings DVD's to the ISS

Progress M-49, launched from Russia's Baikonur cosmodrome in Kazakhstan, safely docked with the ISS at 13.55 GMT.

Other than ordinary food, water, fuel and other scientific gear the spacecraft carried DVD's for the ISS Commander Gennady Padalka.

Expedition 8 Crew available for interview on NASA TV

Fresh from six months in orbit, astronaut Mike Foale and cosmonaut Alexander Kaleri, two of the world's most experienced space fliers, are available Thursday to discuss their experiences live on NASA TV.

Foale and Kaleri are available Thursday for media interviews from 6:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. EDT.

This is a good article about the Soyuz TMA spacecraft with a lot of information on the rendezvous, docking, undocking, descent module, instrumentation, propulsion module etc.
Soyuz will dock the Station tomorrow wednesday in the morning (05:04 UTC).

Expedition 9 Crew in orbit !

The ISS Soyuz 8 spacecraft carrying the Expedition 9 crew is headed to the International Space Station after it successfully launched from Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan. Liftoff occurred at 10:19 p.m. CDT Sunday (0319 GMT Monday) as the Station flew over the southern tip of South America.

ISS Crew attached a radiation test dummy outside the station

Space.com reported that during latest EVA (interrupted earlier than planned due to a space suit malfunction) the ISS crew installed a radiation dummy composed of actual bones surrounded by other tissues simulating artificial organs and synthetic skin.
The experiments wants to study the effects of radiations on the human body.

Supply rocket sans ham gear to arrive at ISS

The ARRL Letter and The American Radio Relay Leaguereport that NASA says the next Russian
Progress supply rocket will arrive at the International Space Station
January 31. On hand to greet and unload the unmanned rocket, which carries
2.5 tons of food, fuel and supplies, will be Expedition 8 crew Mike Foale,
KB5UAC, and Sasha Kaleri, U8MIR. Not aboard the Progress will be
additional Amateur Radio on the International Space Station (ARISS) SSTV
equipment and a Yaesu FT-100D HF/VHF/UHF multimode transceiver that ARISS
had hoped might be able to go into space aboard this Progress flight.

Many of the methods used to build and repair equipment on Earth must now be adapted for space. International Space Station crews have tools for making small repairs, but little research has been conducted on the best ways to manufacture and repair equipment in space.

Two more ISS Tourists

Reuteurs reports that two more space Tourists have signed a 20 million $ bill to fly on ISS.
One will go in 2004 and the other in 2005.
Identities are still kept confidential and I wonder if these guys know anything about amateur radio.
