During 1996, a group of amateur radio operators involved in the communications with the MIR Space Station, decided to join into the "Mir Fan Club". In a very short time over 1200 enthusiasts from all over the world asked to participate, including Cosmonaut Valery Korzun, while leading crew #22. Nowdays MIR is not flying anymore, but here we are again with the same spirit and the same enthusiasm for the ISS, the new International Space Station.

The ARISS commemoration of the 40th anniversary of the joint Apollo-Soyuz mission is going quite well. Some absolutely beautiful pictures have been posted on the ARISS SSTV image gallery. See:

Kudos to all on the great reception!
Also, fantastic efforts on ISS and in Dallas Texas yesterday for the Moon
Day/Frontiers of Flight Museum contact. It was fitting to have a US school
and the Russian Cosmonauts conducting a joint ARISS contact on the 40th anniversary of the of the Apollo-Soyuz docking.
ISS over Arizona
I copied 4 pictures on 3 ISS passes Sunday (19 July) morning. This was the best of the 4 images. I used a Kenwood TH-D72A HT with an Elk Antennas handheld 2m/70cm log periodic antenna for my receive setup. I recorded the audio with a Sony audio recorder. I then transferred the audio recordings to a laptop, where I ran them through RX-SSTV to make the pictures.
This picture is also in the ARISS SSTV image gallery:
