Setting up a TS-850S
Hello,
This is Alex, KC4JFA. I just purchased a TS-790A and can't seem to figure out how to set the odd frequency shift for the ISS.
When I push the offset button, I am getting several offsets but none that are near the 1.32 shift. Is there something I am missing in the manual or is there some kind of hack that I need to do to get this rig to work for me. I set the 145.800 REC but can't seem to figure out how to input the 144.49 XMIT???!!! GRRRRRRR.
I would really appreciate any help that anyone may be able to give me. I know that this is an older rig, and I hope it will not prevent me from enjoying some QSOs with the ISS.

Hi Alex, great rig btw.
I've never used one, but having a quick look through the PDF manual,
it seems like the best way to do it is with the dedicated sat communications, page 45 of the manual.
I maybe wrong though as I've never had a play. Best of luck with getting it sorted and let us know how you get on.

TS790 split freq.
hi alex,
Press SPLIT button.
after press VFO A button and
rotate the big vfo freq button to 144.490mhz.
after press VFO B button an rotate big vfo freq button to 145.800mhz.
If you press PTT to TX it should show
144.490mhz in display.
On receive it should show 145.800mhz in display.
there is also an other manner to
program split frequency in the
memory channels.
just read the manual!

PD0RKC, Tnx OM for the help.
PD0RKC,
Tnx OM for the help. I did read the manual, it is like Greek to me, HI. I am new to working satellites and the ISS. I did not think to use the A + B vfos to accomplish the frequency shift. I got it working now, thanks for your help.
M3POG, I tried your solution first, and it was not the way to go trying to work the ISS. Thanks for your help also.
I forget sometimes how great the HAM community is about helping its own, the response to my post reminded me in a big way. Thanks again OMs!
