A Day of Maintenance and Research
Aboard the orbiting laboratory Wednesday, NASA ISS Science Officer Ed Lu conducted another session of the Investigating the Structure of Paramagnetic Aggregates from Colloidal Emulsions, or InSPACE, experiment in the International Space Station's Microgravity Science Glovebox. Lu also cleaned air ducts and ventilator fan screens, while his commander, Yuri Malenchenko, checked out circuit breakers and replaced a cartridge in the Station's air purification system. Lu also completed the monthly inspection of the Station's portable breathing equipment and fire extinguishers.

In addition to his daily workout, Malenchenko, assisted by Lu, completed a fitness test using the station's cycle ergometer. The fitness test will continue tomorrow. On Thursday, Lu will set up and activate the EarthKam experiment, which allows students to photograph the surface of the Earth.
