Finally made a Contact

Well I have been trying for a while to get a contact with the ISS, and today I finally did.

9-2-2010 22:55UTC NA1SS de W1MED !

I managed to record it as well but forgot to turn up the mic level so you have to blast the sound to hear it, but its clear as day.

I have been trying to develop a fixed elevation antenna on a cheap radio shack rotor, my 1st attempt was a failure, but today I mounted an Elk antenna on a PVC Mast set at 17 Degree's and it works AWESOME !!!

Actually, It's Your Second Contact

If you listen to the recording I posted yesterday for the pass at 2218 UTC on 1 September 2010, you can hear him respond to you (unless he got the wrong call).

Congratulations on your contacts!

Anyone have recording from 8/30 23:03?

After about 4 years, I finally made a contact. Thanks to COL Wheelock. I have a TV rotor for azimuth and an old Alliance rotor for elevation. I made the antennas from an old Radio Shack FM antenna I got from a gentleman who worked for BellCom on the Apollo project at the Cape and in Houston. The VHF yagi is vertical.
