how do i send a message to a particular person

i have received a direct message from someone via the ISS using packet and i want to send a message back but i am not sure i am doing it correctly because i seem to always get disconnected.

this is what i am doing

after i connect to the bbs. i type

w w1abc "W" for Write and then a space and then the call sign of who i am trying to send message to

i was under the assumption this is how you send a message direct to someone so it is waiting for them when they connect. am i doing this wrong?

thanks for the help

You did it right, but it probably was too crowded.

How to send a MSG via ISS

HI
For digipete MSG: Example

:WB5LHD :Hi Jerry your 599 in New Mexico

This is entered directly for conv mode including the Colons. Note there needs to be exactly Nine digits between the colons. The example here does not show the nine digits (I tried to show it here)but it needs to be there :WB5LHDxxx: (Without the xxxs use spaces in place of the xxx) Remember you DO NOT need to be signed in to the BBS to do this.

To send a short Email to friend :
:EMAIL :af5t88@sbcglobal.net Hello Dave, via iss

(Nine digits here as well)
