Correct setup?

Hi fellow ISS fans.

A while back I saw someone on youtube listening to an astronaut on board the ISS using his ordinary scanner, and I found that pretty interesting and facinating. So, since I own a scanner myself, I want to listen in. I know we're in a period of almost no chatter from the station.

Below is a small diagram of my scanner system, and could you kind people tell me if I'm good to go, or should I upgrade?

Unsuccessful 26 April 2013

I tried, using a VHF/UHF Yagi base with 75 watts of power on the VHF frequencies
Up. 144.490
Dn. 145.200

And got nothing with the Bird right over my head.
This is not my first attempt and each one has failed.

Any suggestions?

Na1SS flies over again in roughly 2 hours.
