U.S. Billionaire to Make Second Private Spaceflight
American billionaire Charles Simonyi, a computer software executive who paid more than $20 million to fly to the International Space Station aboard a Russian-built Soyuz capsule in spring 2007, will train for a second Soyuz trip to the space station in spring 2009.
Vienna, Va.-based Space Adventures announced Tuesday that Simonyi will be the first repeat customer since the company began organizing space missions for private citizens in 2001.
Voice last week
Has someone been able to contact ISS via voice in the last week ? I just hear the cosmonauts Saturday speaking russian on 143.625 to the Third Science Festival in Moscow (my location is aprox near Russia). I use 145.200 for uplink and 145.800 for downlink.
Another question : my power supply for the transciever is not so powerful, so I have only 10W of power. Is that sufficient?
Thanks.
Hubble Space Telescope Problem Delays STS-125 Launch
Due to the significant Hubble Space Telescope malfunction that occurred over the weekend affecting the storage and transmittal of science data to Earth, NASA will evaluate the investigation results before fully determining the impact to launch of the STS-125 servicing mission.
Under consideration is the possibility of flying a back-up replacement system as part of the payload, which could be installed during the servicing mission. The back-up unit will need to be checked out and tested at Goddard Spaceflight Center in Greenbelt, Md., and as a result, won't be ready to be delivered to Kennedy Space Center in Florida until the first week in January.
