ISS Astronaut Fields Questions from Elementary Schoolers in Japan
Thanks to the magic of Amateur Radio, ISS Expedition 13 Flight Engineer Jeff Williams, KD5TVQ, on May 11 helped to satisfy the curiosity of youngsters attending Yoneda-Nishi Elementary School in Tagasako, Japan, about life in space. The Amateur Radio on the International Space Station (ARISS) program arranged the direct VHF contact between NA1SS in space and 8N3Y at the school. Williams told the Yoneda-Nishi pupils that it's "quite an honor and a privilege" to be an astronaut. But he noted that it can be dangerous work, even aboard the ISS.

ISS with packet mode return!
WOH! ISS Packet mode is back. I hope that will be the next time, we
all wait a long time for this instant. So i can test my new antenna and the
signal during this pass was very good. My S-Meter goes to the end of
the scale, and by this pass some stations where QRV and so i can test it. During
CREW 12 is coming home to earth i have mounted my antenna but the the signal
was since then not on air. And today i make my first receiving test during ISS and
my antenna.
I wish all a nice week and for all i hope that the packe mode will be on
air for all the next time, and also the crew will be active i hope this weekend.
