New York Students Will Call Space Station Astronaut
WASHINGTON -- Students in Otsego County, N.Y., will make a special call to the International Space Station and Expedition 28 Flight Engineer Ron Garan on Friday, June 17.
The event, which includes a video link with Garan, will be broadcast live on NASA Television at 11:05 a.m. EDT. Fifth through eighth grade students from the Oneonta City School district will ask Garan questions about how the space station plays a pivotal role in expanding human understanding of the Earth and space.
ARISS presentations at Ham-Com 2011
The American Radio Relay League (ARRL) National Convention will be held at the Ham-Com 2011 in Plano, Texas on Friday and Saturday, June 10 - 11.
Several ARISS (Amateur Radio on the International Space Station) presentations will be given during the event:

ARISSat-1 Reception Challenge
ARISSat-1 is scheduled for deployment from the ISS in July.
It has a composite VHF downlink that will easily fit into the FUNcube Dongle receive spectrum. The telemetry is 1000 bps BPSK and can, of course, also be received with a normal
SSB 2 metre receiver.
ARISS ham radio contact planned for school in France
On Thursday 09 June 2011 at 09.09 UTC, which is 11.09 CEST, an ARISS (Amateur Radio on the International Space Station) contact is planned with Lycee europeen Charles de Gaulle, Dijon, France.

ARISS and the NASA Johnson Space Center Education Office's Teaching From Space staff have announced new processes that US-based educators will need to follow to propose a school contact with the International Space Station crew.

ARISSat-1 Update
The ARISSat-1 satellite was intended to be activated in April as part of the 50th anniversary of Yuri Gagarin's famous flight. However, no ground stations reported hearing the satellite. To follow up, the ARISSat-1 team had a teleconference with representatives of RSC-Energia (Russia) and NASA to request a clarification of the events and discuss what happened.
