A Petiton To Make July 20 National Space Day
1999 was the 30th anniversary of Mankind's most spectacular and technically-miraculous exploration event since, perhaps, the 15th Century. When Niel Armstrong and "Buzz" Aldrin strolled that dusty and remote Earth satellite on July 20th, 1969, the universe changed forever. Mankind - The Human Race - had taken a "giant step" toward the stars. We would never be the same. And, we have indeed become a new species - A race of Astronauts.
There have been a number of attempts to commemorate this event and recognize it's on-going ramifications to our daily lives, not only in Astronautics, but in Health, Medicine, Ecology, Physics, Education, Computers, Communications, and so MANY more areas that impact our lives.
Ergo, we have established this petition to demonstrate world-wide support for the creation of an official Day of Commemoration on July 20th of each year - A day of reflection and of introspection as we contemplate the Future of our World in an ever-expanding population and resource-depletion.
Please join with us and publicize this petition and the "www.july20th.org" home page with its Government E-mail links and guest-book availabilities.
This Petition will be presented to World leaders in the US and abroad, but will obviously require a large degree of response before it is recognized.
The time is here to share thoughts and revive the explorer's spirit innate in the Human race, and it requires your support and dedication to help!
Join us in this campaign - You and your children of the Future deserve it!
