New listener with a question
First let me say how thrilled I was to find the issfanclub website. I've been observing the ISS flybys for years but never knew I could listen. How cool! I'm hooked.
After learning about the issfanclub website a few months ago, I awaited my first opportunity to hear the ISS astronauts on my handheld scanner I use at Nascar races. And that opportunity came during the racing activities at Pocono Raceway on 7/31/10 when the Boy Scout Jamboree contacted the ISS. The racing activities had to wait while I listened to the ISS for the first time. What a thrill!
My next opportunity may be on 8/18/10 when, as amsat.org reports, the DaVinci Science Center in Allentown, PA. will be contacting the ISS at 15:36:14 UT. I am a resident of the area and hope to be able to hear both sides of the conversation on my scanner, or perhaps visit the center that day myself.
However, the iss tracking website I use does not predict any overhead passes at that time, not even close. I may have to call the center on Monday to confirm.
So is that possible? Can anyone here verify the scheduled contact on 8/18/10? How cool it would be to actually be there when they contact the ISS.
Thanks to anyone who can help.
