ARISS SSTV Commemorative Activity Coming Soon (July 2017)

SSTV on a PI: http://chertseyradioclub.blogspot.co.uk/2016/08/setting-up-raspberry-pi-...
The signal is so loud when overhead that you can get it on any 2 meter radio set, dust of your beofeng and head outside 145.800 (wide fm)
use mmsstv (windows) or qsstv (Linux) you dont need an interface cable use the sound card input and hold the radio (or your mobile phone) close. You should be able to decode the images.
Even go out and use the phone to record the sound then send it to the PC mac laptop pi etc to decode.
73 and have fun

ISS Radio Report
It's really hard to get digipeated when stations are logged onto RS0ISS-1 pms and in use whilst continuously churning bbs packets especially with 5 watt HT's even with yagis.
The following information is taken from ISS/APRS Satellite Frequently Asked Questions by Bob Bruninga, WB4APR, US Naval Academy Satellite Lab, Annapolis, MD.
ISS PMS SYSTEM: The PMS (Personal Message System) was a common packet function 2 decades ago on Earth but it is extremely inefficient on orbit. Just to communicate one line of text, can take over 5 packets, all exchanged in an extreemely congested channel. It simply makes no sense on orbit where one logon-attemp, can consume an entire pass with zero passed traffic.

Packet Radio live status
Also refer to "ariss.net" or google search "Amateur Radio Stations heard via ISS" for real-time aprs packet status.
I hope this helps

No more APRS data from ISS
I should have checked the ISS website. There's a spacewalk today May 23. So that answers the question.

No more APRS data from ISS
Last report from the digipeater was 13 hours ago May 22, and it was silent over NA for the 03:45 pass (May 23).

Yes, VHF is back!
Thanks to those who reached out to the crew

No more APRS data from ISS
All appeared well after reboot on 12-deg pass over Exeter 22:34z. Beacons heard from other stations including my own and station logged onto RS0ISS-1 bbs also.

First, thanks for the answers and second, as I wrote on the reports section, Packet is now operational again. I tried to connect to the BBS for my educational project and I succeeded but I could not read my messages because of low signal despite a high elevation. I was not using my perfect QFH antenna (see it on my website at http://f4bpp.raidghost.com) since I didn't expect ISS to be operational again. So I used my tiny 1,50 m mobile omni-directional antenna cause I had no time to switch aerials. Next try should be better.

Still no beacon according to https://aprs.fi/?c=raw&call=RS0ISS&limit=50
Will confirm in a couple of hours, after next pass over europe.

No more APRS data from ISS
Just starting to look into this problem. Crew has done a power cycle of the system late today (May 19 GMT). Waiting to see if that fixes it or if more investigation is needed.

Lionel,
The ISS radios were turned off Friday (12 May) for a spacewalk, which is normal. The digipeater was turned on early this (Saturday, 13 May) morning, and www.ariss.net shows activity since just before 1100 UTC when the ISS was passing over North America.

So sorry that no one has responded to your question. Hopefully you've figured out your issues and have made successful contacts/QSOs.
